Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data Planning Alerts UK processes, why, and what rights you have. Short version: we process public planning record data under legitimate-interest grounds, and we handle your subscriber email under our contract with you.

Who we are

Planning Alerts UK is operated by Abdulsalam Oladapo (sole trader), based in London, United Kingdom. Contact: hello@planningalertsuk.co.uk

What data we collect

From subscribers:

• Email address (required, to deliver digests)
• Postcode prefix (required, to filter leads to your area)
• Trade (optional, to help us build better filters in future)
• Payment processing is handled by Gumroad — we do not store card details

From public UK council planning portals:

• Property address of the planning application
• Applicant name (as filed with the council)
• Description of proposed work
• Council decision and decision date

All planning-record data is sourced directly from the public-facing planning portal of each council listed on our home page. This data is made public by statute (Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Freedom of Information Act 2000).

Why we process this data

Subscriber email + postcode: processed under GDPR Article 6(1)(b) — necessary for performance of the contract you enter into when you subscribe.

Planning-record data: processed under GDPR Article 6(1)(f) — legitimate interest. Our legitimate interest is the operation of a lead-aggregation service for UK tradespeople. The data subjects (applicants) have a reasonable expectation that their planning information will be viewed by the public, including competitors, trades, solicitors, journalists and neighbours, because councils publish it publicly with that explicit purpose.

Who we share data with

• Gumroad — payment processing
• Resend — email delivery
• Cloudflare — DNS, email forwarding for inbound mail
• Oracle Cloud — server infrastructure

We do not sell subscriber data to third parties. We do not share planning-record data with anyone other than paying subscribers.

How long we keep data

• Subscriber email: until you unsubscribe, plus 6 months for financial record purposes (HMRC)
• Planning-record data: up to 12 months from the decision date, after which it is deleted from our database
• Cold-outreach contact data: deleted after 6 months if no response; immediately if the recipient unsubscribes

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:

• Show you what data we have about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data (unless we have a legal obligation to keep it)
• Object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Port your data to another service

Email hello@planningalertsuk.co.uk with any request. We respond within one month.

If you're a planning applicant and you want your record excluded from our digests, email us with the property address and we will suppress it within 48 hours.

Cookies

Our website uses no analytics, no advertising cookies, and no tracking. The only cookies in our ecosystem come from Gumroad during the checkout flow, and from Resend's click-tracking in digest emails.

Complaints

You have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We'd prefer you contact us first so we can fix whatever went wrong.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially, we'll email all active subscribers and update the "last updated" date above.
